Student Spaces

Acknowledging the importance of quality space for individual and group study, as well as socialization or simply to eat a lunch before heading to your next class, the Office of the VP Finance & Administration has sponsored several initiatives to improve existing Student Lounges and other Common Spaces. These informal gathering spaces can also help foster a sense of community on campus. In 2017 the University committed to funding up to $2 million worth of campus improvement initiatives that were recommended in the final report of the IIRP Campus Experience Working Group. The following, are examples of Student Common space campus improvement initiatives we have completed, in progress, or are in the planning to undertake.

Bench Seating

As part of our efforts to improve student common space seating, the Office of the VP Finance & Administration has been increasing the number of indoor bench seating throughout the campus. Last year (2017) we added 34 new indoor benches in various locations throughout the Keele campus. We focused our installations in corridors where large classrooms or lecture halls are located. For 2018 we plan to install an additional 16 indoor benches.
